Women in Signal Processing at GlobalSIP 2015

In a continuing effort to engage our female membership base, the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) hosted a Women in Signal Processing Luncheon in conjunction with the 2015 IEEE Global Conference on Signal and Information Processing (GlobaSIP) in Orlando, Florida, USA this past December. The event, which has traditionally been only held annually, is expanding to all major SPS conferences (ICASSP, ICIP, and GlobalSIP) beginning with ICASSP 2016 in Shanghai, China.

The luncheon, hosted by Anubha Gupta, brought together approximately 20 signal processing professionals in a roundtable discussion regarding the unique challenges women face and how the Society can better serve its female member base. Attendees were full of ideas on how to better serve and engage women through its benefits, events, networking opportunities, resources, job opportunities, and more. These suggestions were recorded and will be shared with society leaders for future initiatives and implementation.

If you’d like to learn more about how to get involved with Women in Signal Processing, or have ideas on how SPS can better serve its member, please contact SPS Membership and Content Administrator, Jessica Perry, at
