The conference will be held at IAG, the business school of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), which is one of the top research-led universities in Brazil. Recognized as one of the most important doctoral research centers in the country, PUC-Rio is a private non-profit Catholic University founded in 1940 with the aim of developing knowledge based on humanistic values. The university now has about 20,000 students who come from a variety of religious, ethnic and social backgrounds.

PUC-Rio is located in Gávea, a charming neighbourhood surrounded by a forest and beaches of the southern (Zona Sul) area of Rio de Janeiro. It has a complete infrastructure to host events, catering, comfortable conference rooms and Internet access. Its campus is beautifully situated next to the Tijuca National Forest, surrounded by lush trees and with a small stream running through it. The campus also offers restaurants, cafeterias and is close to Gávea Shopping Centre.

Gávea

Home to PUC-Rio, Gávea is an affluent residential neighborhood located in the southern area of Rio. It is famous for its high concentration of artists and intellectuals, and bohemian atmosphere. Gávea is surrounded by the Tijuca National Forest, the world’s largest urban forest, and is close to the Botanic Gardens. The neighbourhood has many restaurants and bars, bakeries, pharmacies and art galleries. It also has a modern and sophisticated shopping centre called Gávea Shopping Centre with cinemas, theatres, art galleries, high-street stores and restaurants, and a racing course at the Jockey club.  The closest hotels are in Leblon within 500m-1km.

How to get to IAG at PUC-Rio

IAG is located in a corner of PUC-Rio, as indicated on the campus map below. The easiest way to get to PUC-Rio is using taxis which are inexpensive. From Leblon, Ipanema or Copabana, the taxi fare should cost between R$ 10 and 20, and it would take between 5 (Leblon) and 20 (Copacabana) minutes to get to PUC-Rio. There are taxi apps which allow you to call drivers who speak English. The taxi apps can be downloaded from:

The least expensive alternative is to use buses. Buses 432 and 435 can be taken from Copacabana (Rua Tonelero), Ipanema (Rua Prudente de Morais) and Leblon (Avenida General S. Martin) to PUC-Rio (final stop). The bus fare is R$ 3,80 and the traffic is relatively light until 8:30am. At rush hour, it may take 45 minutes to get to PUC-Rio from Copacabana.
