Field Data for Wireless Communications Over Doubly Selective Channels

The Applied Research Laboratories at The University of Texas at Austin has released a 10 GB dataset of wireless communication field measurements:

  • Doubly selective underwater acoustic channel
  • Single carrier communication system
  • QAM transmission and optional pilot tones
  • Single-element mobile transmitter
  • Five-element stationary receiver

The dataset has been publicly released under a non-exclusive royalty-free license:

Potential uses of the dataset include conducting research in

  1. Doubly selective channel modeling (Doppler, multipath, additive noise, etc.)
  2. Doppler shift estimation and correction methods
  3. Equalization methods (esp. for reverberant channels)
  4. Receiver design tradeoffs
