Recent Patents in Signal Processing (January 2012) - Wavelet Transform Applications

For our January 2012 edition, we focus on patents in the area of wavelet domain signal processing. In recent years, wavelet transforms have been designed to serve as suitable basis functions for a wide variety of applications. The selection below includes patents issued in the recent past, and covers applications of the wavelet transform across vastly different fields, ranging from analysis of seismic waveforms to representation of cartographic data to classification of human electrocardiograms.  If you have an interesting patent to share when we next feature patents on wavelet-domain methods, or if you are especially interested in a signal processing research field that you would want to be highlighted in this section, please send email to Shantanu Rane (rane AT merl DOT com).
