Initiatives & Trends

Samsung recently revealed its Samsung Digital Health Initiative to accelerate innovations in preventive health technology. The Samsung Digital Health Initiative features new hardware and software platforms and a $50 million investment fund.

For our August 2014 issue, we cover recent patents granted in the area of passive radar systems. The section below covers patents granted recently for passive radar related signal processing methods focusing on activity detection, sport monitoring, radar based surveillance, object detection and tracking.

For our July 2014 issue, we cover recent patents granted in the area of Lidar based environment perception and modeling. The section below covers patents granted recently for Lidar related signal processing methods focusing on road traffic safety, robotics, radio service availability assessment or image based positioning.

For our June 2014 issue, we cover recent patents granted in the area of machine learning for detection of malicious communications, covering patents granted recently for methods for detecting malicious botnets, malware, or email transmissions.

A talk on "Big Data over Networks" is available on SigView discussing the big data system design issue by focusing on the interaction across signal processing, information storage, and underlying communication networks.

The title of this inaugural competition is "Image restoration/Super-resolution for Single Particle Analysis".

Haptics researchers investigate ways of using tactile sensation and control to help people interact more intuitively with computers, robots, and various other types of electronic and electromechanical systems.
