Technologists (m/f) for Speech Recognition Systems

Experience IT – Intuitive Technology: this principle guides our work at the European Media Laboratory. We are an IT enterprise, based in Heidelberg, Germany, focusing on the automatic conversion of speech into text for a variety of markets. Speech technologists and IT specialists research, develop and use state-of-the-art large-vocabulary automatic speech recognition technologies, including deep learning, to convert spoken audio into structured textual data and actions.

Research Associate in Tracking in Networked Environment

To work on an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)-Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) funded project as part of the Loughborough, Surrey, Strathclyde Cardiff  and Newcastle (LSSCN) Universities consortium within the Ministry of Defence (MoD) University Defence Research Centre (UDRC) scheme in signal processing; in particular, to provide signal processing solutions for the networked environment.

73 Signal Processing Society Members Elevated to Senior Member

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) is honored to announce the elevation of 73 of its members to the grade of IEEE Senior Member. These members have demonstrated outstanding professional performance, exhibited professional maturity through long-term experience, and established themselves as leaders in their respective IEEE-designated fields of interest. Senior Member is the only membership grade that is eligible to be nominated for IEEE Fellow. The new Senior Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society are:

Post-Doctoral Research Associate

The Machine Learning and Sensing Laboratory at the University of Florida has an opening for a post-doctoral research associate to develop computer vision and machine learning algorithms for a novel back-scatter x-ray system. The position will be a part of the University of Florida’s “Rays for Roots” project funded by ARPA-E ROOTS program.

2017 Member-Driven Initiative

Overview
The Board of Governors of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) has allocated $20,000 for Member-Driven Initiatives for the 2017 calendar year. The funding is open to all Signal Processing Society members, Chapters and Committees. However, all proposals must include the involvement of the local Chapter to encourage geographic development. Allocation of funds will be competitive.

What Should We Learn from... Autonomous Ships on the High Seas

Remotely controlled ships, piloted by people on shore, and autonomous ships, which can take actions for themselves, are the latest beneficiaries of increasing digital connectivity and intelligence. This IEEE Spectrum articles provides an insider's perspective on autonomous ships in high seas, covering sensing, communication, collision avoidence, compelx maneuvers and more.
