Welcome to Rio de Janeiro! - The Ninth IEEE Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing Workshop will be held on 10th-13th July 2016 at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, located in Gávea, in a superb area surrounded by beaches, mountains and the world's largest urban forest. The General Chairs are Rodrigo C. de Lamare and Martin Haardt. Aleksandar Dogandzic and Vítor Nascimento serve as Technical Chairs. The workshop will feature an impressive collection of plenary talks with contributions from Stephen Boyd, Arye Nehorai, Lee Swindlehurst, Hélio Librantz, and Bhaskar Rao.
This year’s SAM is scheduled about a month before the 2016 Summer Olympic Games when Rio will offer plenty of cultural activities and festivities, which will make SAM 2016 a memorable experience. Rio de Janeiro is a world renowned city for its culture, beautiful landscapes, numerous tourist attractions and international cuisine. There is no need for visa this time as the Brazilian government has decided to waive visas for most visitors to Brazil who arrive before Sep. 18, 2016. By the way, submission of papers is due on Feb. 26, 2016.

We are also pleased to announce the seventh IEEE International Workshop on Computational Advances in Multi-Sensor Adaptive Processing (IEEE CAMSAP 2017), which will be held at the Curacao Marriott Beach Resort & Emerald Casino, Curaçao, Dutch Antilles. The conference preparation is already well under way and the first announcement and call for papers is expected during December this year.

Welcome new SAM TC members
Membership elections took place and the Sensor Array and Multichannel technical committee (SAM TC) welcomes its new members:

We congratulate our returning (2nd term) members: Xavier Mestre (CTTC, Spain), Philip Schniter (Ohio State University, USA), Ami Wiesel (Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel), Kainam Thomas Wong (Hong Kong Polytechnic University), Chong-Yung Chi (National Tsing-Hua University, Taiwan).
Not only are these dozen names fantastic news for our board, but they also enhance our diversity geographically and demographically. Finally, thanks very much to our Nominations & Elections Subcommittee (Yimin Zhang, Eduard Jorswieck and Chair Fulvio Gini) for their excellent work.

The 41st IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP 2016) will be held during March 20-25, 2016 in Shanghai, China. ICASSP will feature plenary talks by Stephen Boyd, Wen Tong, Michael Unser, Li Deng, and Johan Suykens as well as 15 high-quality tutorials on diverse and timely topics for the signal processing community.
