Yonina Eldar received the 2013 IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) Technical Achievement Award for “fundamental contributions to sub-nyquist and compressed sampling, convex optimization and statistical signal processing.”

Matthew Herman and Thomas Strohmer received the IEEE SPS Best Paper Award for their paper entitled “High Resolution Radar via Compressed Sensing“, published in the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, Volume: 57, No. 6, June 2009.

Yuejie Chi received the IEEE SPS Young Author Best Paper Award for the paper co-authored with Louis Scharf, Ali Pezeshki and A. Robert Calderbank, entitled “Sensitivity to Basis Mismatch in Compressed Sensing“, published in the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, Volume: 59, No. 5, May 2011.

Ali H. Sayed received the SPS Meritorious Service Award for “exemplary service to and leadership in the Signal Processing Society.”

Jian Li received the IEEE SPS Best Paper Award for the paper co-authored with Amir Beck and Petre Stoica, entitled “Exact and Approximate Solutions of Source Localization Problems“, published in the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, Volume: 56, No. 5, May 2008.

Conferences
The 39th IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP 2014) has just been held in Florence, Italy in early May. Among the 120 sessions carried out at ICASSP, 4 oral and 7 poster sessions were specifically dedicated to Sensor Array and Multichannel (SAM) topics. Out of 222 SAM paper submissions to ICASSP 2014, a total of 106 papers were accepted.
Just a few weeks ahead from now, we are looking forward to welcoming you at the upcoming Eight IEEE Sensor Array Multichannel Signal Processing (SAM 2014) Workshop that will take place from June 22 – 25, 2014 in A Coruña, a beautiful modern Spanish city located at the Atlantic Ocean. The SAM 2014 workshop will comprise 13 invited and 9 contributed technical sessions, 6 plenary talks, as well as 2 free tutorials.
The General Co-Chairs of SAM2014 are Mónica F. Bugallo and Luis Castedo. The Technical Co-chairs are Aleksandar Dogandžić and Marius Pesavento. A total of 211 papers were submitted to the workshop and out of which 134 papers from 429 authors were accepted (58 in regular sessions and 76 in special sessions). The SAM organizing committee is proud to host plenary talks by Thomas Kailath, Angel Lozano, James H. McClellan, Anna Scaglione, Peter Willett and Wotao Yin, as well as a tutorial jointly offered by Sergiy A. Vorobyov and Marco Lops and another tutorial by Georgios B. Giannakis.

Furthermore we are happy to announce that the SAM Technical Committee has selected Cancun, Mexico, to host the sixth edition of the IEEE workshop on Computational Advances in Multi-Channel Sensor Array Processing (CAMSAP 2015) on December 13-16, 2015. The General Co-Chairs Petar M. Djurić and Jean-Yves Tourneret, the Technical Program Co-Chairs Fulvio Gini and Cédric Richard, as well as the remaining organizing team members are working to continue with the successful history of this unique workshop.
