Recent Patents in Signal Processing (April 2014) - Biometric Template Protection

For our April 2014 issue, we cover recent patents granted in the area of biometric template protection. This is a method of enabling biometric recognition without directly storing biometric features in the enrolment database. The section below covers patents granted recently for methods of extracting auxiliary data from a biometric that enables recognition in the absence of the biometric features. The methods are based on error correcting codes, public key crypto systems, signal transformations, and robust signal hashing.
