Member Highlights: Dr. Haizhou Li
Dr. Li is a Singaporean scientist, and a Chinese Teochew native. He is now a Presidential Chair Professor at the School of Data Science, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, China. He did his Ph.D in digital signal processing of speech in 1990, and spent the past three decades to refine the technology.
SPS BISP TC Webinar: 2 November 2022, presented by Dr. Justin Dauwels
Many tasks in medicine still involve substantial manual work. In many cases there is strong potential for intelligent automation by Artificial Intelligence (AI), leading possibly to a reduction in costs and man-hours, while increasing the quality of clinical service.
SPS Webinar: 14 December 2022, Recent Advances in Non-line-of-sight Imaging
Non-line-of-sight (NLoS) imaging is an exciting technology which uses time-resolved sensors to see objects that are hidden from view. In essence, NLoS imaging lets someone turn a wall into a mirror. This talk will highlight recent advances in NLoS imaging, with an emphasis on the algorithms which underlie their operation.
SPS IFS TC Webinar: 17 November 2022, presented by Dr. Paolo Gasti
As an authentication method, biometrics offer unparalleled convenience and security. With very little for users to remember and do, there is also very little that they can do incorrectly, thus limiting the attack surface of an authentication system. Unfortunately, biometrics also present a challenging privacy/security tradeoff: biometric data...
Nominate an IEEE Fellow today!
IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership of the IEEE. It honors members with an outstanding record of technical achievements, contributing importantly to the advancement or application of engineering, science and technology, and bringing significant value to society.
Call for Nominations for IEEE SPS Editors-in-Chief
The IEEE Signal Processing Society invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the following journals: IEEE Signal Processing Magazine, IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, and IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing for a 3-year term starting 1 January 2024.
SPS ASI Webinar: 30 November 2022, presented by Dr. Nikil Dutt
Self-awareness and self-organization have a long history in biology, psychology, medicine, engineering and (more recently) computing. In the past decade this has inspired new self-aware/self-organizing strategies for building resilient computing platforms that can adapt to the (often conflicting) challenges...
Upcoming SPEAR Challenge: SPeech Enhancement for Augmented Reality (SPEAR) challenge
Augmented reality devices of the future will likely fuse sensor data from several modalities, allowing multichannel speech enhancement algorithms to exploit, for example, head orientation and accurately estimated source directions.
Call for Nominations: IEEE Technical Field Awards
Nominations are due 15 January annually for the IEEE Technical Field Awards (TFAs). Download nomination forms and award-specific criteria.
IEEE SPS 2022 Members-at-Large and Regional Directors-at-Large Election Results
Three new Members-at-Large will take their seats on the IEEE Signal Processing Society Board of Governors beginning 1 January 2023 and will serve until 31 December 2025. Seven candidates competed for the three Member-at-Large positions.
