Editorial Board Nominations

IEEE Signal Processing Society Journals

The IEEE Signal Processing Society is seeking qualified experts to join its journal editorial boards. Nominations and self-nominations are solicited for appointment as Associate Editor.  Nominations and self-nominations for appointment as Senior Area Editor are considered in exceptional cases, for nominees with extensive prior editorial board experience.

The role of the Associate Editors is to manage manuscripts through the peer review process, and to contribute, as a member of the editorial board, to maintaining the health and quality of the journal. Associate Editors have an initial term of no more than three years, which may be extended by up to two additional years. To be eligible for appointment as Associate Editor, nominees should have obtained a PhD degree at least five years before the date of nomination, and should have significant experience in the peer review process.

The role of the Senior Area Editors is to manage manuscripts through the immediate reject process, advise the Editor-in-Chief in selecting Associate Editors, assist with managing the peer review process, and to contribute, as a member of the Editorial Board, to maintaining the health and quality of the journal. Senior Area Editors have an initial term of no more than three years, which may be extended up to two additional years. To be eligible for appointment as Senior Area Editor, nominees must have completed one or several terms as Associate Editor or have a strong record of equivalent experience.

Nominees must have impeccable credentials as an author as well as as a reviewer, possibly also as an editor in previous editorial board appointments. Specifically, nominees must have a solid and continued record as an author and reviewer in the journal to which they seek to be appointed, demonstrating technical excellence, thoroughness and fairness.

Editorial Board members must be a member of the IEEE and the IEEE Signal Processing Society. Editorial Board members carry a commitment of dedication and service to their journal, specifically in terms of timeliness and adherence to IEEE and IEEE Signal Processing Society policy.

If you are interested in serving as an Editorial Board member, or to nominate an individual for appointment as Editorial Board member,  please fill out this nomination form.

Nominations are screened, and subsequently assessed by the Editor-in-Chief (or their Deputy) of the selected journal(s). All Editorial Board appointments are subject to approval by the IEEE Signal Processing Society Publications Board.
