Speaker Authentication (2012)

by Qi (Peter) Li,  Springer, January 2012.

Publisher's description:  Speaker Authentication focuses on the use of voice as a biometric measure for personal authentication. It covers all voice-related authentication techniques, including speaker recognition and verbal information verification. The speaker recognition covers two approaches, speaker verification and speaker identification. The book provides an introduction to the current state of the art in speaker authentication, from fundamental concepts to advanced algorithms. Advanced and useful topics and algorithms are selected with real design examples and evaluation results. Special attention is given to topics related to improving overall system robustness and performance, such as robust endpoint detection, auditory transform, auditory-based features, fast discriminative training theory and algorithms, detection-based decoding, sequential authentication, and authentication system design. The author shares his experience in developing successful speaker authentication systems. As the methodologies developed in speaker authentication span several diverse fields, the book should serve as a valuable resource for a broad spectrum of researchers and developers to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to engage in the interdisciplinary fields of user authentication, biometrics, speech and speaker recognition, multimedia, and dynamic pattern recognition.
