News and Resources for Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society
Published in TC News on 1 August 2016 by Izhak Shafran and Andrew Rosenberg (Reposted from the SLTC Newsletter) Welcome to the Spring 2016 edition of the IEEE Speech and Language Processing Technical Committee's Newsletter! This issue of the newsletter includes 5 articles and announcements from 6 contributors, including our own staff reporters and editors. Thank you all for your contributions! The newsletter provides an opportunity to highlight aspects of our community that do not conform to the norms of peer-reviewed journals, conferences, or workshops. Taking advantage of this opportunity, we have started a new column, "Getting to Know Your Fellow Researchers", that will be featuring leading researchers in our field so that our readers can know a bit more about them. We are kicking off this series with recently elected IEEE Fellows, starting with Steve Renals, who was gracious enough to participate in this experiment. This latest July 2016 issue of the newsletter also includes the usual jobs and announcements. We believe the newsletter is an ideal forum for updates, reports, announcements and editorials which don't fit well with traditional journals. We welcome your contributions, as well as calls for papers, job announcements, comments and suggestions. You can submit job postings here, to contact the TC fill our the form, or send mail to speechnewseds@listserv.ieee.org (link sends e-mail) to propose articles. To subscribe to the Newsletter, send an email with the command "subscribe speechnewsdist" in the message body to listserv@listserv.ieee.org (link sends e-mail).
