The SPS Chapter Certification Program has been reviewed and updated during ICASSP 2018. Certified Chapters will now receive expanded benefits during the 4-year period the certification is valid.

Patent no. 9,934,430 presents methods, systems, and computer-readable media related to a technique for providing handwriting input functionality on a user device. A handwriting recognition module is trained to have a repertoire comprising multiple non-overlapping scripts and capable of recognizing tens of thousands of characters using a single handwriting recognition model.

The advent of new wireless technologies in recent years has created a tremendous increase in the demand for wireless connectivity. The estimated number of mobile device connections exceeds eight billion globally, more than the population of the world, and the growth trend is rapidly increasing as the developing world penetration rate is still in its infancy.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) invites nominations for the position of Awards Board Chair. The term for the Awards Board Chair position will be three years (1 January 2019-31 December 2021).

he Signal Processing Society (SPS) has 12 Technical Committees and 3 Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that support a broad selection of signal processing-related activities defined by the scope of the Society.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society Chapter of the Year Award will be presented for the eighth time in 2019. The award will be presented annually to a Chapter that has provided their membership with the highest quality of programs, activities and services. The award will be presented annually in conjunction with the International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP) to the Chapter’s representative.

Researchers from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Tencent, and Johns Hopkins University have developed a tool that automatically adds, removes, or modifies facial features of a person in an image.
