News and Resources for Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society

June 2021

The Signal Processing Society (SPS) has 12 Technical Committees that support a broad selection of signal processing-related activities defined by the scope of the Society.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society has developed guidelines related to SPS Chapter social media and Chapter Activities.

The SPS membership numbers have been stable, albeit low, for many years in Region 9. However, there has been a decrease in student membership even though the number of active students in the areas of interest of signal processing remain high throughout the whole region.

This webinar will discuss the MMSE channel estimator for a simple SIMO system model, without knowledge of the required channel statistics. Although the derived MMSE estimator is computationally intractable in the general form, its structure can be used to motivate a neural network architecture with lower complexity.

IEEE SPS has built a streamlined mechanism for employers to add a job announcement by simply filling in a simple job opportunity submission Web form related to a particular TC field. To submit job announcements for a particular Technical Committee, the submission form can be found by visiting the page below and selecting a particular TC.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society Chapter of the Year Award will be presented for the 11th time in 2022. The award will be presented annually to a Chapter that has provided their membership with the highest quality of programs, activities and services. The award will be presented annually in conjunction with the International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP) to the Chapter’s representative.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) invites nominations for the positions of Awards Board Chair and Fellow Evaluation Committee - Chair and Vice Chair. Nominations should be received no later than 30 July 2021.
