The Board of Governors of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) elected two new officers who will start their terms on 1 January 2016: Ali H. Sayed (University of California) will serve as 2016-2017 SPS President-Elect and Walter Kellermann (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg) will serve as 2016-2018 SPS Vice President-Technical Directions.

2016 IEEE Technical Field Award Recipients Announced

The IEEE Board of Directors has approved the 2016 IEEE Technical Field Award and 2015 IEEE Eric Herz Outstanding Staff Member Award recipients. The complete list of recipients and their citations is online at www.ieee.org/awards. Please feel free to send your notes of congratulations and to publicize the recipients within your other IEEE and professional affiliations.

The SPS Awards Board is now accepting nominations for the new IEEE SPS Industrial Leader Award and IEEE SPS Industrial Innovation Award.

Overview The Board of Governors of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) has allocated $40,000 for Member-Driven Initiatives for the 2015 calendar year. The funding is open to all Signal Processing Society members, Chapters and Committees. However, all proposals must include the involvement of the local Chapter. Allocation of funds will be competitive. Access the application here.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) is honored to announce the elevation of 22 of its members to the grade of IEEE Senior Member. These members have demonstrated outstanding professional performance, exhibited professional maturity through long-term experience, and established themselves as leaders in their respective IEEE-designated fields of interest. Senior Member is the only membership grade that is eligible to be nominated for IEEE Fellow. The new Senior Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society are:

 

On 21 May 2015, volunteers from the IEEE Signal Processing Society participated in NextBC 2 Showcase and Awards Gala in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The subcommittee hopes to better serve, expand, and mobilize the female SPS membership base through tailored events, networking opportunities, workshops, and more.
