Open Courseware for Real-Time Digital Signal Processing at The University of Texas at Austin

This third-year undergraduate course concerns theory, algorithms, simulation and real-time implementation of digital signal processing systems. This course emphasizes design tradeoffs in signal quality vs. implementation complexity in signal processing algorithms. Students map signal processing theory to signal processing algorithms to desktop simulation in Matlab to embedded real-time software in C. Applications focus on communication systems but also include audio and image processing. The open courseware for the spring 2014 offering of this course by Prof. Brian Evans includes (1) video recordings of lectures on YouTube, (2) lecture slides and handouts, (3) homework assignments and their solution sets, (4) laboratory recitation slides and assignments, and (5) current and previous midterm exams and their solutions. Discussion of midterm #1 solutions and several homework solutions are also available on YouTube. The open courseware Web site is
