Position Description: 

An Intermediate to Senior Radar Subject Matter Expert (SME) is required to provide program support to the U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) Battlespace Applications Branch Precision Radars Team at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. The experienced Radar SME will support the team by providing technical support and expertise in a variety of disciplines related to the design, development, and testing of precision radar systems integrated with armament systems.  Intermediate to advanced level of radar expertise is required.  An advanced degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred. 

Duties:

  • Provide technical guidance and support in the development of radar systems, modeling and simulation tools related to radar systems and subcomponents, signal processing of radar data, and test and evaluation of radar systems,
  • Provide technical analysis to assess future system performance in new mission areas,
  • Provide data analysis to evaluate and assess performance of existing radar systems, and suggest methods of improvement of radar performance,
  • Evaluate new radar system design concepts from vendors and provide recommendations to Government leads,
  • Provide technical support to radar project leads, attending program reviews, technical interchange meetings, and customer reviews,
  • Attend test events and support analysis of radar data and assessment of performance,
  • Provide novel radar design concepts supporting new mission areas,
  • Provide inputs on technical reports and publish technical papers on new radar developments as needed,
  • Assist in project reporting requirements, test plan development, test reports, and status reports.

Requirements:

  • BS in electrical engineering and 15 years of relevant experience
  • Extensive experience with development and fielding of radar systems
  • Experience managing technology development programs from concept through field testing
  • Desire to contribute to research and development programs focusing on future radar systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • US citizenship
  • Ability to secure a security clearance
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in electrical engineering and 10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with ground-based radar systems for applications in Ground Moving Target Indicator (GMTI); Counter-Rockets, Artillery and Mortar (C-RAM); or Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS)
  • Working knowledge of radar products offered by multiple vendors and emerging technologies under development  
  • Secret security clearance
