One postdoc and up to two PhD positions are available at the Centre for Biomedical Image Analysis (CBIA), which is a research division of the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. The focus of CBIA is the development and validation of novel methods in a broad range of biomedical imaging applications with emphasis on cell imaging using optical microscopy.

I was originally going to get an MS in databases at UPenn. However, I took a course in NLP taught by Aravind Joshi, Bonnie Webber, and Barbara Grosz, who was visiting Penn that term. I thought it was the coolest topic I’d ever encountered and decided to come back and get a PhD in NLP. Luckily for me, Penn was very open to people coming from different backgrounds (mine being a PhD in 16th century Mexican history) and thought this was an advantage rather than a limitation.

The internship program at Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories (MERL) gives students excellent opportunities to work in an industrial research lab environment side-by-side with world-class researchers. This program emphasizes close collaboration with a particular researcher or members of a small team. MERL considers graduate students from all over the world. As many of our projects benefit from specialized knowledge in a given field, graduate students pursuing a Ph.D. typically fill the majority of internship openings.

SPS Announces 2018 Class of Distinguished Lecturers, the Signal Processing Data Science Distinguished Lecturer and the New Distinguished Industry Speaker Program.
International Audio Laboratories Erlangen is jointly operated by the Faculty of Engineering at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and the Institute for Integrated Circuits at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. It conducts both fundamental and applied research on novel audio technology. This involves a close and long-term collaboration between both institutions stipulated by contract. Eventually, more than 50 scientists will work in this internationally unique research facility.
