Virtual Meetings During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) would like to express our concern and support for the members of our global community and all affected by the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted a global shift in meetings and events, many moving from in-person gatherings to a more virtual implementation. SPS embraces these changes not only during these unprecedentedly uncertain times, but to inspire future potential for its members and Chapters to expand their reach, engaging and empowering members and potential members to connect locally and globally, especially at a time when timely research and connection are of such great importance.

We encourage and support all of our Chapters to take advantage of virtual options to hold meetings, technical talks, social events, and lectures from the SPS Distinguished Lecturer Program and the Distinguished Industry Speaker Program. Platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, and WebEx can bolster your interaction and connection with your members while also accommodating different types of events. In April, SPS members in the Vietnam Section held a virtual lecture and seminar with Prof. K.V.S. Hari, SPS Vice President-Membership. In May, the SPS Delhi Chapter held a Virtual Distinguished Lecture with Prof. Ami Wiesel.

We are inspired to see the creativity and innovation from our members engaging their signal processing colleagues and community and are looking forward to see the interesting events you will plan in the future. If you have any questions, please contact the SPS membership team at sp-membership-info@listserv.ieee.org. We are happy to support you!
