The 26th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO) will be held in Rome, the Eternal City, in Italy from September 3 to September 7, 2018. The flagship conference of the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) will offer a comprehensive technical program addressing all the latest developments in research and technology for signal processing and its applications.
Dear all,
Due to the close proximity of ICIP to the nomination deadline, we have extended the period for nominating new IFS TC members to October 8, 2017:
- Nomination Period: August 18 - September 24 October 8 (both included)

I was originally going to get an MS in databases at UPenn. However, I took a course in NLP taught by Aravind Joshi, Bonnie Webber, and Barbara Grosz, who was visiting Penn that term. I thought it was the coolest topic I’d ever encountered and decided to come back and get a PhD in NLP. Luckily for me, Penn was very open to people coming from different backgrounds (mine being a PhD in 16th century Mexican history) and thought this was an advantage rather than a limitation.
The Member Election Subcommittee of the SLTC is seeking nominations for new SLTC Members for a 3-year term (2018-2020). Nominations should be submitted by filling out the web form at https://www.icsi.berkeley.edu/icsi/ieee_form.
Welcome to the IEEE Speech and Language Processing Technical Committee's Newsletter!
This issue features the next installment of our regular column, "Getting to Know Your Fellow Researchers", highlighting Douglas O'Shaughnessy, who is a Professor at INRS-Télécommunications (University of Quebec) in Montreal, Canada and the author of the textbook Speech Communications: Human and Machine (IEEE Press, 2000). He has contributed immensely to the IEEE society for a number of years now.
Technical Committee
Bylaws & Policies
(Approved and adopted by committee vote on June 20, 2008)
1. Name: Signal Processing Theory and Methods (SPTM) Technical Committee (TC).
2. Purpose: The purpose of the SPTM TC is to promote the advancement of the theory and methods of Signal Processing, including the technical areas of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Statistical Signal Processing (SSP).
Technical Committee
New Member Nomination
SPTM-TC welcomes new members, but the size of the TC is restricted to 40. In our annual election process, typically 1/3rd of the membership rotates (about 13 members), and we aim to have a slate of candidates larger than twice the number of available slots. If you would like to be considered, check the membership responsibilities listed below, complete the nomination form, and find a nominator among the existing members who can write an endorsing statement on the form and submit it to the TC Chair.
Technical Committee
Member Responsibilities
Perform ICASSP reviews each year (20-30 papers usually for the TC).
Assist in the review of papers submitted to SPTM TC Workshops: DSP and SSP.
Participate in face-to-face meetings at ICASSP, if feasible.
Participate in email meetings.
Participate in various nomination and voting processes (TC membership elections, IEEE-SPS Distinguished Lecturers, IEEE-SPS Awards, Associate Editors for IEEE-SPS Publications, etc).
TC members are encouraged to organize DSP/
