Anna Scaglione (F) (M.Sc.'95, Ph.D. '99) is currently a professor in electrical and computer engineering at Arizona State University (ASU). She was Professor of Electrical Engineering previously at the University of California at Davis (2008-2014), and at Cornell University, (2001-2008).

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) is proud to announce that Prof. Mari Ostendorf has accepted the position of Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of the new IEEE Open Journal of Signal Processing (OJ-SP)—a gold, fully open access journal dedicated to publishing peer-reviewed articles on the latest topics and trends in Signal Processing (SP).

In accordance with the Bylaws of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, I am writing to solicit nominations for the Awards Board and the Nominations and Appointments (N&A) Committee. This year, the Society will be filling THREE positions on the N&A Committee for the term 2020-21 and TWO positions on the Awards Board for the term 2020-2022.

Due to overwhelming interest in Member Driven Initiative funding, the IEEE Signal Processing Society has changed its process for submitting proposals through the program. This includes proposals for Forums, Regional Meetings, and Chapter Driven Initiatives.

IEEE is proud to introduce you to IEEE DataPort, a valuable, easily accessible data platform that can significantly enhance your research efforts.  Upload and store standard or open-access datasets for free with the option to link your paper submission.

Signal processing works around us constantly, doing unseen work to keep us connected in infinite ways, including 5G connectivity. In our new video, Signal Processing for 5G, learn how 5G employs signal processing methods to detangle information, processing usable data that allows devices to connect efficiently.

New and improved monthly statistics reports are now available containing enriched visual analytics dashboards that can be used for monthly trending. These comprehensive dashboards improve efficiency by allowing OUs to quickly access data that is relevant to them by OU, Region, Section, Grade, Division, etc.

As a reminder for continuing chapter chairs and for incoming chapter chairs for 2019, we would like to highlight a valuable resource available to you. Launched last year was IEEE OU Analytics, a web-based business intelligence tool to deliver essential metrics on memberships or subscriptions to OUs, including Societies, Councils, Technical Communities, etc.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) is dedicated to providing webinars on technical and technological innovations (and their applications) in signal processing from top researchers and thought leaders in academia and industry on the SPS Resource Center.

Effective immediately, all SPS Student Branch Chapters are now eligible to request up to $500 annually to help support invited speakers, career development workshops, social functions in connection to Student Branch Chapter meetings, and other related activities.
