1. Name:
Information Forensics and Security Technical Committee (IFS-TC), IEEE Signal Processing Society

2. Purpose:
To promote the advancement of science and technology in information security and forensics

3. Field of Interests:
The fields of interest of the IFS-TC shall be all aspects of information forensics and security.

4. Scope of Activities:
The Technical Committee shall promote activities within its areas of technical interest and shall provide expertise and assistance as follows:
(a) Assist in the review of papers within the IFS-TC scope that are submitted to Society conferences and journals;
(b) Organize and operate, which includes oversight of the technical program, societysponsored/co-sponsored symposia, seminars, and workshops, or special sessions at technical meetings of the Society or of the IEEE, at all levels, and at meetings of other organizations having cooperative relationships with the Society, in accordance with IEEE rules and procedures and the rules for such meetings;
(c) Make nominations in the SPS Society awards and vet nominations for technical excellence as requested by the Awards Board;
(d) Assist in selection of SPS Distinguished Lecturers;
(e) Assist Editors-in-Chief in identifying appropriate Associate Editors in IFS areas;
(f) Assist in the development of appropriate IEEE standards within scope, according to the rules and procedures of the IEEE;
(g) Engage with Society members who are interested in the Technical Committee’s scope and be involved in the organization of regional activities;
(h) Assist SPS to explore cooperative relationship with other societies of shared technical interests, and act as SPS liaison in these collaborations and outreach.

5. Governing Documents:
The IFS-TC shall be governed by the Signal Processing Society Bylaws and the Signal Processing Society Policies and Procedures, with any additional Bylaws set forth herein, and any additional Policies and Procedures set forth in the IFS-TC Policies and Procedures.
Relevant portions of the SPS documents (as of December 2013) are cited and reproduced below for context. Additional Policies and Procedures specific to the IFS-TC are highlighted.

6. Membership:
The technical committee voting members shall be current SPS members in good standing, and be elected by the members of the technical committee itself.
Non-voting membership of the TC includes Associate Members and Affiliated Members.

7. Amendment:
(a) Suitable bylaws and amendments thereto may be adopted by a two-thirds vote of the voting members of the technical committee present at a regularly convened meeting of the committee provided that a quorum is present. Bylaws and amendments may also be adopted by an email vote receiving approval by two-thirds of all voting members of the IFS-TC.
(b) Following the adoption by the technical committee members, the proposed bylaws or amendments shall become effective after it is approved by the SPS Vice President-Technical Directions.
