Automatic Speaker Recognition and Diarization in Co-Channel Speech
This study investigates various aspects of multi-speaker interference and its impact on speaker recognition. Single-channel multi-speaker speech signals (aka co-channel speech) comprise a significant portion of speech processing data. Examples of co-channel signals are recordings from multiple speakers in meetings, conversations, debates, etc.
SPS Publications Alerts: December 2018 Available Tables of Contents
The list of tables of contents (TOCs) are now available for December 2018. The TOCs are formatted to the style of its publication and offers not only links to the full issue, but also to the individual articles in IEEEXplore®.

What Should We Learn? Hospitals Fight Sepsis with AI
In hospitals, doctors and nurses keep vigilant watch over patients' vital signs and blood tests to catch the first symptoms of sepsis. In this life-threatening condition, the body responds to an infection with widespread inflammation that can lead to organ failure.
New SPS Technical Interest Profile Codes
The IEEE Signal Processing Society continues to track emerging technical areas. As a result, the Society has decided to create two new SPS Technical Interest Profile (TIP) Code categories in the fields of Data Science and Autonomous Systems to keep pace with the expanding technical disciplines.
A Special Upcoming Webinar from Dr. Lajos Hanzo: November 19, 2018
The marriage of ever-more sophisticated signal processing and wireless communications has led to compelling “tele-presence” solutions—at the touch of a dialing key.
From High-Level Specification to High-Performance Code
Computer architectures and systems are becoming ever more powerful but increasingly more complex. With the end of frequency scaling (about 2004) and the era of multicores/manycores/accelerators, it is exceedingly hard to extract the promised performance, in particular, at a reasonable energy budget.
Recent Patents in Signal Processing - Handwriting recognition
In patent no. 10,055,660 a system, a non-transitory computer readable medium, and a method for Arabic handwriting recognition are provided. The method includes acquiring an input image representative of a handwritten Arabic text from a user, partitioning the input image into a plurality of regions, determining a bag of features representation...
