NEWS AND RESOURCES FOR MEMBERS OF THE IEEE SIGNAL PROCESSING SOCIETY
Frequently, the most important sporting events, such as the Olympic Games or the World Cup soccer games, are used as platforms to showcase and sometimes launch the latest communication technologies (e.g. satellite broadcasting, color TV, and high-definition TV over the years). The 2010 World Cup broadcasted the games in three-dimensional (3D) TV (3DTV).
Learn about the technological issues facing a broad deployment of 3DTV systems and the signal processing techniques that are used or need to be developed in the area of 3DTV through IN THE SPOTLIGHT column of the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine (September 2010).
