IEEE has announced the 2022 IEEE Medal, Recogiition, and Technical Field Award recipients. IEEE medals are the highest honor of awards presented by IEEE and these medals will be presented at the 2022 IEEE Honors Ceremony. Nine Signal Processing Society members will received an IEEE award.
Dr. Sanjit Mitra Elected to the Engineering Academy of Japan
Dr. Sanjit K. Mitra, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of California, Santa Barbara, has been elected recently to the Engineering Academy of Japan (EAJ) as a foreign associate. EAJ is composed of leading experts from academia, industry, and government institutions who possess a wide range of knowledge and have made outstanding contributions in engineering and technological sciences, and closely related fields...
IEEE SPS SAM TC Webinar: 31 March 2022, by Dr. Robert W. Heath, Jr.
MIMO communication remains an important technology for wireless communication systems. In this tutorial, we revisit classical signal processing models for MIMO wireless communications. We consider how those models may be updated as MIMO systems go to higher carrier frequencies, broader bandwidths and new kinds of array architectures.
Call for Nominations: IEEE TMM 2022 Multimedia Prize Paper Award
The 2022 Multimedia Prize Paper Award Nomination Period is Open. Any paper published in T-MM in 2019, 2020 or 2021 is eligible. Judging shall be on the bases of originality, subject matter, timeliness, potential impact, and presentation quality.
New SPS Chapters in 2021
The IEEE Signal Processing Society is happy to announce the addition of twenty-three new Chapters formed in 2021. We welcome the new SPS Chapters and wish them great success in their future activities and events.
Get Involved with Technical Committees by becoming a TC Affiliate
The Signal Processing Society (SPS) has 12 Technical Committees that support a broad selection of signal processing-related activities defined by the scope of the Society.
Nominations Open for IEEE Transactions on Multimedia Editor-in-Chief
The IEEE Transactions on Multimedia invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for a 3-year term starting 1 January 2023. Nominations should be submitted to the Steering Committee Chair, Wenwu Zhu, IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, via email to wwzhu@tsinghua.edu.cn.
Call for Nominations: Board of Governors Members-at-Large and Regional Directors-at-Large
The IEEE Signal Processing Society is seeking nominations for future leaders! Nominations for several SPS leadership roles are open now, and we are now soliciting for the following roles with terms beginning 1 January 2023.
SPS Webinar: 25 March 2022, by Dr. Kaiming Shen - "Fractional Programming for Communication Systems"
In this talk, we discuss a new transform technique for solving fractional programming (FP), i.e., a family of optimization problems with ratio terms. The classic FP techniques such as the Charnes-Cooper and Dinkelbach’s methods typically deal with a single ratio, and in general, do not work for multiple ratios.
Events of the Student Branch Chapter: Babu Banarasi Das Institute of Technology and Management (BBDITM)
Since the establishment of the IEEE BBDITM Signal Processing Society on December 30, 2020, we have successfully organized 54 events. There was a grand inauguration of the society chapter on February 4, 2021. And several other events were organized both offline as well as online by our branch chapter.
