News and Resources for Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society
For the August 2012 edition, we focus on recent patents in multimedia fingerprinting. These are inventions primarily concerning the extraction of low-dimensional representations for identifying the content and ownership of videos and images and the devices producing them for use in copyright protection, digital rights management and traitor tracing.
US 8,204,314, "Method and system for fingerprinting digital video object based on multiresolution, multirate spatial and temporal signatures", by J. Lu and Y. Wang, filed 3 December 2007, issued 19 June 2012, assigned to Vobile, Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) .
US 8,189,945, "Digital video content fingerprinting based on scale invariant interest region detection with an array of anisotropic filters", by M. Stojanic, P. Ramanathan, P. Wendt and J. Pereira, filed 5 November 2009, issued 29 May 2012, assigned to Zeitera, LLC (Mountain View, CA).
