Volunteer Opportunity: Information Technology

Are you passionate about web tools? We are looking for a lead volunteer to Chair an effort to organize, represent and improve Information Technology services and tools for the Signal Processing Society (SPS), with high visibility and interactions with other Societies. The primary responsibilities are noted below. If you are interested in volunteering for the position, please contact SPS President-Elect, Alex Acero at a.acero@ieee.org no later than 30 September.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide technological guidance within SPS. Establish and direct the strategic and tactical goals, policies, and procedures for IT in SPS. Assess and anticipate technology projects and recommend appropriate action and resources.
• Oversee SPS IT budget
• Chair a committee of SPS volunteers on IT.
• Represent SPS in a committee of IEEE Societies CIOs chartered to leverage best practices.
• Interact with IT IEEE corporate staff, our own SPS staff and vendor IT staff hired for conferences and publications.
• Develop a plan for a member service platform to serve the various constituencies in SPS: volunteers, authors, conference attendees, regular SPS members, local activities, academics, industry, students, influentials, and the public-at-large.
• Oversee the overall software offered by SPS, including the main Society website (www.signalprocessingsociety.org), websites for SPS conferences, mobile apps, social networking (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc), content management systems (Joomla, Drupal, etc), backend applications, single sign-in authentication, security processes, etc.
• Participate in vendor contract negotiations for equipment and software for SPS.
