Call for Officer Nominations: Vice President-Membership and Vice President-Education

DEADLINE: 19 JULY 2019

 

IEEE Signal Processing Society Past President Rabab K. Ward in her capacity as Chair of the Society’s Nominations and Appointments Committee invites nominations for the IEEE Signal Processing Society Officer positions of Vice President-Membership for the term 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2022 and the new position of Vice President-Education for the term 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2022.  Please note that the Society is reopening the call for Vice President-Membership nominations due to not having a sufficient number of candidates to move forward to the ballot. 

All nominations must be submitted through the new online nomination system. The following information is required for each nomination: candidate name, contact information, IEEE Region, IEEE member number, candidate’s brief biography including information about current SP, IEEE, or other Society volunteer activities, a photo, as well as a statement of interest stating the candidate's vision for the position. Nominations must be received no later than 19 JULY 2019.   Full details can be found on the web

VICE PRESIDENT-EDUCATION (Term: 1 January 2020-31 December 2022)

The duties of the Vice President-Education include the oversight of the activities of the Education Board, the Resource Center and SigPort; tracking educational trends; leading the development of educational programs and professional development material; drafting strategic and long-term plans regarding the Society’s educational activities for recommendation to the Board of Governors; assisting in the creation of the TAB Five-Year Society Review document; and representing the Society at IEEE meetings or meetings of other organizations on education matters or as requested by the Society’s President or Board.

The Vice President-Education chairs the Education Board and is an ex-officio, member of the Resource Center Editorial Board and SigPort Editorial Board and acts as liaison to the Board of Governors for all educational activities; and serves on and is a voting member of the Society's Board of Governors and ExCom.

NOTE: The Vice President-Education should have a high level of management experience; previously served the Society in some capacity; and should have experience in developing curricula and/or professional development materials.   

VICE PRESIDENT-MEMBERSHIP (Term: 1 January 2020-31 December 2022)

The duties of the Vice President-Membership include the oversight of the activities of the Membership Services, Industrial Relations, Student Services, Women in Signal Processing, and Chapters; tracking membership trends; drafting strategic and long-term plans regarding the Society’s membership activities for recommendation to the Board of Governors; overseeing the activities of the Society’s Chapter activities; assisting in the creation of the TAB Five-Year Society Review document; and representing the Society at IEEE meetings or meetings of other organizations on membership matters or as requested by the Society’s President or Board.

The Vice President-Membership chairs the Membership Board and acts as liaison to the Board of Governors for all membership activities; and serves on and is a voting member of the Society's Board of Governors and Executive Committee.

NOTE: The Vice President-Membership should have a high level of management experience and should have previously served the Society in some capacity, such as: Regional Director-at-Large, Director, Section/Chapter Chair or Section Chair etc.
