The IEEE Signal Processing Society is now accepting nominations for the newly formed Best Paper Award Review Committees, which will report to the SPS Awards Board.

The Best Paper Award Review Committees will be established for each of the Society’s three technical Clusters and shall be responsible for the evaluation and ranking of the submitted papers based on the award’s defined criteria and for forwarding their ranked order of the nominations to the Awards Board. 

The composition for each Best Paper Award Review Committee in accordance with Bylaw 208.6.2 is as follows:

Composition: Each Best Paper Award Review Committee shall comprise of the Chair, who shall hold a minimum IEEE member grade of Senior Member and shall be appointed by the Awards Board Chair from among the members of the Awards Board and will serve a one-year term, renewable.  Each committee may also include one representative named by the Industry Board Chair and four members-at-large of their defined technical clusters.  The members-at-large will be appointed by the Award Board through an open call for nominations and will serve a term of two-years, renewable once.  The overall composition of each Best Paper Award Review Committee should have a broad range of technical expertise, geographic regions, professional sectors, and other relevant attributes.

To ensure the technical diversity of the Society's awards review process, Best Paper Award Review Committees will be created based on the defined technical clusters.  The composition of each committee shall reflect a balanced representation across the technical areas within its respective cluster.

Members of the Best Paper Award Review Committee are not permitted to submit nominations or be nominated for any Society-related paper awards.  However, they may submit nominations for other Society awards that are not related to paper awards.  Committee members who sit on Technical Committees must ensure that they do not participate in the Technical Committee award nomination or selection process and are ineligible for best paper awards during their term on the Best Paper Award Review Committee.

Nominations must be received no later than 17 March 2026.
