Call for Officer Nominations: Vice President-Membership

IEEE Signal Processing Society 2016-17 Past President Alex Acero in his capacity as Chair of the Society’s Nominations and Appointments Committee invites nominations for the IEEE Signal Processing Society Officer position of Vice President-Membership for the term 1 January 2017-31 December 2019.

Please send your nominations to Theresa Argiropoulos, SPS Senior Manager, Operations, via t.argiropoulos@ieee.org. Nominations must include candidate name and contact information, as well as a brief biography, which includes information about current SP, IEEE, or other Society volunteer activities.. Nominations must be received no later than 26 January 2016. The complete call for nominations can be found at the Society’s website.

Vice President-Membership Position Details:

The Vice President-Membership is a voting member of the Board of Governors and Executive Committee; Chairs the Membership Board and acts as a liaison to the Board of Governors for the activities of the Membership Services Committee, Industrial Relations Committee, Student Services Committee, Education Committee and the Chapters Committee of the Membership Board. The Vice President-Membership has the direct overall responsibilities for the development, design, operation, and improvement of the Society’s membership and educational activities and reports to the President.

The duties of the Vice President-Membership include the oversight of the activities of the Chapters, Education, Industrial Relations, Membership Services, and Student Services Committees, as well as SigPort and SigView; tracking membership trends; drafting strategic and long-term plans regarding the Society’s membership and educational activities for recommendation to the Board of Governors; overseeing the activities of the Society’s Chapter activities; assisting in the creation of the TAB Five-Year Society Review document; and representing the Society at IEEE meetings or meetings of other organizations on membership and education matters or as requested by the Society’s President or Board.

NOTE: The Vice President-Membership should have a high level of management experience and should have previously served the Society in some capacity, such as: Director, Regional Director-at-Large, Section/Chapter Chair or Section Chair etc.
