We are seeking one highly motivated postdoctoral fellow in computational neuroscience and signal processing to be part of an interdisciplinary research alliance working to develop computational models and data analysis methods in support of a research program in neuroergonomics (‘the study of the brain and body at work’). An overall goal of the research is to discover underlying principles describing the relationship of non-invasively recorded EEG brain dynamics and motivated behavior (recorded by body motion capture, eye tracking, etc) in interactive, information-rich human-system
IEEE-USA is excited to announce a new service for consultants. We are now offering IEEE members a chance to be a part of the Alliance of IEEE Consultants Networks (AICN). Yes, consultants can now be a part of the AICN by joining the IEEE-USA Consultants Database.
Does it cost to become a part of the AICN?
For US$99 a year, you will be able to post your professional consulting profile in the IEEE-USA Consultants Database, get access to a free annual IEEE-USA eBook on consulting issues, and receive an annual invitation to an exclusive consultant webinar (or access to the webinar recording).
Narresh Vankayalapati (University of Rhode Island), “Direct position detection and localization of emitters using distributed sensors”, Advisor: Prof. Steven Kay, (2012)
In this thesis, the author addressed the problem of passively gathering information about an emitter of electronic signals using distributed sensors. First, the author proposed an asymptotically optimal technique for detection of the presence or absence of such signals in the data collected at the distributed sensors. This is a centralized detector unlike the commonly used decentralized decision fusion techniques.
Two publications of the IEEE Signal Processing Society will welcome new Editors-in-Chief beginning January 2013 for the term that will run until 31 December 2015. These new Editors-in-Chief are:

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) invites nominations for the position of Director-Membership Services. The term for the Director position will be three years (1 January 2013-31 December 2015).
The Director-Membership Services is responsible for identifying value/benefit/services to members, as well as recommending policy/mechanism for recruiting members. The Director is a voting member of the Membership Board and a non-voting, ex-officio member of both the Conference and Publications Boards.
The Nominate a Senior Member Initiative was designed to encourage all IEEE Societies and Sections to become actively involved in promoting the Senior Member grade. This initiative aims to:
* encourage grade advancement in IEEE;
* simplify the application process;
* offer financial incentives for approved Senior Member applications;
* offer increased benefits for Senior membership.
To qualify for the 2012 Nominate a Senior Member Initiative, completed Senior Member application and reference forms must be submitted no later than 1 November 2012.
The school will be open to graduate students, Ph.D. students, post-docs, young researchers, senior researchers and practitioners. It will be held at University of Technology, Sydney - Sydney, Australia, July 2 through July 6, 2012.
Submissions to the special issue in the IEEE JOURNAL OF SELECTED TOPICS IN SIGNAL PROCESSING should be original. Submissions to the special issue in the IEEE SIGNAL PROCESSING MAGAZINE should have significant tutorial value.
