The University of Edinburgh is looking to recruit into a 3 year academic position in Medical Image Analysis, with a combination of research and teaching responsibilities.
The purpose of this job is to develop the image analysis capability for research in Edinburgh; enhancing an existing portfolio of well-characterised image acquisition techniques; translating and simplifying these techniques for wider use by research staff, or to image analysis in other organ systems, as required.

The Membership Board is delighted to announce the approved proposals for the 2014 Summer Schools under the Seasonal Schools in Signal Processing (S3P) Program in the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS). This program was established in 2010 as an outcome of the SPS Long Range Planning Retreat held during ICIP 2010 in Hong Kong. S3P seasonal schools are typically either Summer schools or Winter schools, and are geared towards providing graduate students, early stage researchers, and practitioners with background on selected topics in signal processing.

Frequency estimation of time-varying sinusoidal signals is an important topic in science and engineering that has found applications in many fields. The purpose of this Special Issue is to present new and effective methods for periodic signal parameter estimation together with their use in various application areas. Submissions of comprehensive overviews of methodological advances are strongly encouraged, as well as papers dealing with new and emerging applications.
