Call for Proposals: (SLT 2026) 2026 IEEE Workshop on Spoken Language Technology

Call for Proposals
IEEE Workshop on Spoken Language Technology (SLT) 2026

Submission Deadline: 27 November 2024

IEEE Signal Processing Society’s Speech and Language Processing Technical Committee (SLP TC) is soliciting proposals from researchers interested in organizing the 2026 IEEE Workshop on Spoken Language Technology (SLT 2026). The SLT Workshop is a four-day workshop and will include tutorials on the first day.

Following on the success of the bi-annual SLT workshop over the past decade, the IEEE Signal Processing Society invites proposals to host the 2026 IEEE Workshop on Spoken Language Technology (SLT 2026). Past SLT workshops have fostered a collegiate atmosphere through a thoughtful selection of venues, thus offering a unique opportunity for researchers to interact and learn.

Proposing teams are asked to create a proposal that follows the following outline:

  1. Location and Venue: Give an idea on the venue size and facilities.
  2. Conference Dates: Ensure they do not conflict with major world holidays, as outlined in the SPS Conference Organizer Guidelines or other SPS conferences and workshops. Typically, the workshop is held in the Fall.
  3. Organizing Committee Members: Build the organizing committee considering factors including (a) active SPS members; (b) diversity in geographical, industry and academia, age, and gender; (c) conference and/or workshop experience; (d) event management experience. For examples, refer to the SLP Technical Committee workshops page.
  4. Technical Program: Consider the overall structure and conference model; innovative initiatives; student and young professional initiatives; and industry-participation/support initiatives.
  5. Budget including registration fees
  6. Hotels in the area that cater to different attendee budget levels.
  7. Travel and transportation between the nearest airport and the conference venue.
  8. Any other relevant information about the venue or the organization.
  • Interested Organizers are asked to complete and submit an Intent to Bid Form by 27 November 2024
  • Teams will be shortlisted, and finalists will be invited to prepare full proposals, due 25 March 2025. Proposals will be reviewed and selected by the Technical Committee in April 2025.

We encourage you to contact the SLP TC Chair, Yifan Gong, and the SLT Workshop Sub-Committee Chair, Zhijian Ou, via email with questions or to obtain further details about the content of the proposals.

Proposals will be reviewed by the SLP TC, and the selection results will be announced in April 2025.
