Series to Highlight Women in Signal Processing: Dr. Raquel Bailón Luesma
I was born in Zaragoza, Spain, in 1978. As a child, I enjoyed studying and learning new things. I loved Math and the way they can be used to explain almost everything, but I was not attracted to technology at all! I never envisioned myself as an Engineer, but rather thought I would study Medicine, or something related to taking care and healing people.
46 SPS Members Elevated to Fellow
Each year, the IEEE Board of Directors confers the grade of Fellow on up to one-tenth of one percent of the voting members. To qualify for consideration, an individual must have been a Member, normally for five years or more, and a Senior Member at the time for nomination to Fellow. The grade of Fellow recognizes unusual distinction in IEEE’s designated fields.
Job Opportunities in Signal Processing
IEEE SPS has built a streamlined mechanism for employers to add a job announcement by simply filling in a simple job opportunity submission Web form related to a particular TC field. To submit job announcements for a particular Technical Committee, the submission form can be found by visiting the page below and selecting a particular TC.
58 Signal Processing Society Members Elevated to Senior Member!
The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) is honored to announce the elevation of 58 of its members to the grade of IEEE Senior Member. These members have demonstrated outstanding professional performance, exhibited professional maturity through long-term experience, and established themselves as leaders in their respective IEEE-designated fields of interest.
Call for Nominations for Editor-in-Chief, IEEE Signal Processing Letters
The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the following journals: IEEE Signal Processing Letters for a 3-year term starting 1 January 2023.
IEEE SPS SAM TC Webinar: 27 January 2022, by Sundeep Rangan
The use of wireless frequencies above 100 GHz has attracted considerable interest for both massive bandwidth communication links and very high resolution RADAR and sensing. Systems in these frequencies have unique characteristics in terms of device nonlinearities, MIMO architectures and radio propagation that in turn present significant design challenges.
Member Highlights: Prof. Tiago H. Falk
Prof. Tiago H. Falk received the BSc degree from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, in 2002, and the MSc and PhD degrees from Queen’s University, Canada, in 2005 and 2008, respectively, all in electrical engineering. In 2007, he was a visiting Research Fellow at the Sound and Image Processing Lab, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden, and in 2008 at the Quality and Usability Lab, Deutsche Telekom/TU Berlin, Germany.
IFS TC Webinar: 8 December 2021, by Teddy Furon
Call for Nominations: IEEE Medals & Recognitions
Nominations will be open 1 December–15 June for IEEE Medals and Recognitions—IEEE’s highest awards. All are encouraged to submit a nomination for a worthy candidate within their technical fields.
Get Involved with Technical Committees by becoming a TC Affiliate
The Signal Processing Society (SPS) has 13 Technical Committees and 2 Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that support a broad selection of signal processing-related activities defined by the scope of the Society.
