Dr. Mari Ostendorf is an Endowed Professor of System Design Methodologies at the University of Washington in the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department, currently serving as Associate Vice Provost for Research. She is also an Adjunct Professor in Linguistics and in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering.

This issue brings to you our interview with Dr. Hamid Palangi, a Senior Researcher at Microsoft Research Lab (AI) in Redmond, Washington. His current research interests are mainly in the areas of Natural Language Processing and Reasoning across Language and Vision.

Venkat’s research interests are broadly in networked and mobile systems, and his work over the years has led to highly-cited papers and paper awards, technology transfers within Microsoft, and also industry impact. Chetan Arora is an Associate Professor with Computer Science Department at IIT Delhi. He received Ph.D. in Computer Science and B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, both from IIT Delhi in 2012 and 1999 respectively. He did his Post Doctoral Research with Prof. Shmuel Peleg from 2012-2014 in Hebrew University, Israel.  Prior to joining IIT Delhi, he was an Assistant Professor with IIIT Delhi.
