News from the Signal Processing for Communications and Networking (SPCOM) Technical Committee

Contributed by Geert Leus (SPCOM TC Chair)Geert Leus
.

The Signal Processing for Communications and Networking Technical Committee (SPCOM TC) aims at illuminating and exploring signal processing challenges in communications and networking, and can be situated at the intersection of the IEEE Signal Processing (SPS), Communications (COMSOC), and Information Theory (IT) Societies.

The SPCOM TC just finished forwarding their nominations for the SPS paper and society awards. Currently our TC is organizing new member elections. The members that are stepping down are Holger Boche, Pierre Duhamel, Mounir Ghogho, Robert W. Heath Jr., Visa Koivunen, Marc Moonen, Phillip A. Regalia, Philip Schniter, and Xiaodong Wang. In addition, Geert Leus is stepping down as a Chair and Tom Luo will take over. We would like to thank all of the retiring members for their valuable contributions.

The SPCOM TC will shortly start reviewing the papers that were submitted to the SPCOM track of the ICASSP11 conference. The Technical Program Committee (TPC) for the SPCOM track will consist of all the SPCOM TC members plus a number of additional external reviewers, who we are soliciting at the moment.

The flagship conference of the SPCOM TC is the IEEE International Workshop on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications (SPAWC). Next year's SPAWC11 will be held June 26-29, 2011, in San Francisco, CA, chaired by Prof. Hamid R. Sadjadpour from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

For more information on our TC, please visit the SPCOM TC's webpage.
