News and Resources for Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society

June 2014

The IEEE MGA vTools team is happy to announce successful new releases for the following vTools applications:

vTools.Meetings version 4.4 introduces new features and usability enhancements, such as:

MGA is pleased to announce Phase II of the Section Vitality Dashboard. New features include:

  • "Sign in" now defaults to your home Section
  • Region has been added
  • An advertising URL has been created: http://www.ieee.org/vitality
  • A new Meeting Activity tab has links to meeting activities for the selected Section (technical, professional, non-technical, administrative)

To make the most of these new enhancements:

For our June 2014 issue, we cover recent patents granted in the area of machine learning for detection of malicious communications, covering patents granted recently for methods for detecting malicious botnets, malware, or email transmissions.

Now IEEE SPS has built a streamlined mechanism for employers to add a job announcement by simply filling in a simple job opportunity submission Web form at the related TC section pages.

To submit job announcements for a particular Technical Committee, the submission form can be found by visiting the page below and clicking on a particular TC. A link for the form can be found in the sidebar menu of the TC pages. Jobs can also be viewed from its individual TC pages or a combined listing that includes all TC jobs.

The Mitra Lab at Cold Spring Harbor is looking to fill a postdoctoral research position, open from June 01 2014, by someone with experience in image processing and analysis.

The candidate will work with our team on the Mouse Brain Architecture (MBA) project (mouse.brainarchitecture.org), doing atlas registration and data analysis of the collection of mouse brain images, such as detecting and quantifying cells and processes.

SUPERSONIC IMAGINE is seeking for an ultrasound senior engineer.

Job description: design and develop ultrasound imaging modes to be implemented on the ultrasound system, be in charge of defining new modes of imaging based on SuperSonic Imagine unique technology, be directly responsible for the quality and performances of those imaging modes.

Frequency estimation of time-varying sinusoidal signals is an important topic in science and engineering that has found applications in many fields. The purpose of this Special Issue is to present new and effective methods for periodic signal parameter estimation together with their use in various application areas. Submissions of comprehensive overviews of methodological advances are strongly encouraged, as well as papers dealing with new and emerging applications.
