The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) is pleased to announce that Professor Honggang Wang has been elected as the new Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of the IEEE Transactions on Multimedia (T-MM). His three-year term will run from January 2026 to December 2028.
Professor Wang is the founding chair and a full professor in the Department of Graduate Computer Science and Engineering at Yeshiva University’s Katz School of Science and Health in New York City. His interdisciplinary research focuses on multimedia, networks, and machine learning. He has published over 200 papers in leading IEEE journals and conferences. Dr. Wang has received six best paper awards at major IEEE conferences and was honored with the Best IEEE MMTC (Multimedia Communications Technical Committee) Journal Paper Award.
Professor Wang has played significant leadership roles in various IEEE activities, having previously served as the chair of the IEEE Multimedia Communications Technical Committee (MMTC) and the eHealth Technical Committee. Additionally, he has served as an associate editor for the IEEE Transactions on Multimedia and the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology. Notably, he was the technical program committee (TPC) co-chair for IEEE ICME 2019.
From 2020 to 2022, Dr. Wang served as the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Internet of Things Journal (IoT-J). During his tenure, the journal experienced significant growth, achieving a 5-year impact factor of 11.7. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the IoT-J Outstanding Service Award in 2022. Furthermore, Dr. Wang has received several honors from IEEE, including the Outstanding Leadership Award and the Outstanding Researcher Award from the IEEE Communications Society's MMTC. He is a Fellow of IEEE.
