The aim of the Signal Processing Cup (SP Cup) competition is to provide undergraduate students with an opportunity to form teams and work together to solve a challenging and interesting real-world problem using signal-processing techniques and methods. The inaugural event was held on 8 May 2014, at ICASSP2014, Florence, Italy. Three teams were selected to present their work for the final competition, and the prizes were awarded at the conference.

The Audio and Acoustic Signal Processing (AASP) Technical Committee promotes the advancement of technologies and applications in audio and acoustic signal processing and enhances interaction with similar organizations within IEEE and throughout the world.

The SPS Awards Board is now accepting nominations for 2014 major SPS awards. Each year, SPS honors outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions related to signal processing through the Society Award, the Technical Achievement Award, the Education Award, and the Meritorious Service Award.

IEEE has officially released the names of the 2015-2016 IEEE Annual Election candidates. We are proud to note that many of the candidates are Signal Processing Society members. Four of the candidates, in particular, have served as Signal Processing Society Officers.

Your vote is important! The election of Directors-at-Large for Regions 1-6 and Region 8 (term 1 January 2015 through 31 December 2016) and Members-at-Large (term 1 January 2015 through 31 December 2017) of the IEEE SPS Board of Governors is now open.

IEEE Member and Geographic Activities (MGA) recently launched a new way for Sections to recognize members for their years of service to IEEE. The IEEE Loyalty Program allows Section leaders to thank new and longtime members alike, regardless of grade, with commemorative lapel pins to celebrate milestone years of IEEE membership.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) and the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) are proud to announce their new partnership, benefitting the signal processing community. The agreement allows SPS and EURASIP to support one another by way of co-sponsorship of EUSIPCO, co-sponsorship of seasonal schools held in Europe, sharing of Distinguished Lecturers, and more.

Nominating a Senior member for IEEE Fellow grade just got easier with the new Fellow Online System. Several time-saving features have been introduced. The system is now open and ready to accept nominations for the class of 2016. It’s never too early to start; the submission deadline is 1 March 2015.

Do you know someone, living or deceased, who has made one or more major contribution(s) to IEEE Technical Activities? Now is your chance to nominate him or her for the Technical Activities Board Hall of Honor. Nominees will be considered based on their contributions to the creation, development, or advancement of the technical objectives of the IEEE.
