News and Resources for Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society
In a continuing effort to provide world-class resources to new and future generations of engineers, IEEE Young Professionals has introduced two new services – IEEE ResumeLab and IEEE Mentor Centre. Geared towards Student, Graduate Student and Young Professional members, both tools aim to help younger members navigate the beginning stages of professional life, including career evaluation, resume writing, professional image-building, and networking.
Available to all IEEE members, IEEE ResumeLab is more than a resume builder. ResumeLab provides a powerhouse of resources for job-seekers, including resume and correspondence development, portfolio building, skills assessments, mock video interviews with more than 900 potential questions, and the ability to create a video resume. Users will also have access to a Document Center that allows them to store relevant supplemental materials. Finally, ResumeLab makes it easy for users to share with integrated sharing capabilities and personalized user websites.
Higher-grade members (members above Student) now have access to the IEEE MentorCentre, an online networking platform that connects IEEE members with interest in establishing mentoring partnerships. Members can register to be mentors or mentees, each of whom must be willing to dedicate time and effort for a mutually-beneficial partnership. IEEE members who have held leadership or upper-management positions, researchers, educators, consultants, and entrepreneurs are encouraged to register as mentors to share experience and insight with mentees – recent grads, new professionals, or those looking to make a career change. Participation is voluntary for both parties.
