New Data Repository
IEEE DataPort
IEEE has developed a new data repository called IEEE DataPort™ that offers the following benefits to the global technical community at large:
- Accepts and stores datasets up to 2TB in size and can accept multiple file uploads
- Full integration with AWS (Amazon Web Services) to facilitate data analysis in the Cloud
- Persistent Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for each uploaded dataset and analysis
- Retains referenceable datasets that can support research reproducibility
- Supports government or other funder mandates for open access to research data
- Hosts and manages Data Challenges/Competitions
- Provides global exposure to your datasets.
Presently, all members of all IEEE Societies, including Signal Processing Society’s members, are being provided with a free IEEE DataPort subscription until at least the end of 2019. You can login to IEEE DataPort (https://ieee-dataport.org) using your existing IEEE login. You will automatically be subscribed and have access to all dataset files in the repository free of charge.
Haiqiang Wang, PhD student at University of Southern California whose VideoSet in on DataPort says:
"IEEE DataPort is the easiest way to host datasets that are accessible worldwide. As a data owner, it releases me from tedious work such as identifying a host server, building corresponding websites, regular maintenance, payments, etc. Recently, I shared VideoSet on DataPort, and it works well no matter where a user is from. It has user-friendly interface and excellent download speed. It also supports direct feedback and response between users and owners."
Haiqiang Wang’s VideoSet is in the Signal Processing category on IEEE DataPort, and below are two other datasets recently added to the same category:
- Decoding local field potentials for neural interfaces
DOI: 10.21227/H2VW5Z - Andrew Jackson and Thomas M. Hall
- Source Separation for Simultaneous Seismic Data Acquisition
DOI: 10.21227/H2TP46 - Yuenjie Chi
The number of datasets in IEEE DataPort is growing. Over 25 IEEE Journals are currently in a trial allowing authors to upload their datasets to IEEE DataPort as they submit articles through Scholar One. Associating research datasets with submitted articles supports the goal of reproducible research. However, datasets need not be linked with articles.
