A Job Marketplace for Signal Processing Professionals

Through our recent ICASSP surveys we have learnt that roughly 25% of ICASSP attendees are students, and that many of them are interested in meeting potential employers. Many industry members go to ICASSP to recruit potential employees. As an initiative to better meet the need of SP industry and serving our student members, we decided to investigate having a job marketplace in the Society that allows employers to post job announcements for industry or academic positions, both full-time and internships, in various areas of signal processing.

Deadline May 30, 2011: Call for Proposals to Host IEEE WIFS 2012

The Technical Committee on Information Forensics and Security (IFS-TC) of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) is inviting proposals for the fourth offering of its flagship workshop (WIFS 2012), to be held in Fall 2012. The proposal should target a minimum audience of 130-160 attendees. Interested groups and individuals are strongly encouraged to approach the members of the IEEE IFS-TC WIFS subcommittee to openly discuss and improve their proposals.

Deadline 31 March 2011: IEEE Real World Engineering Projects (RWEP) Call for Proposals

IEEE continues its program to develop curricula for use with first-year students studying electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, biomedical engineering and electrical engineering technology. In its fourth successful year, the program seeks high-quality, hands-on, team-based projects that focus on real-world problems with solutions that benefit society. The projects are expected to make the related IEEE fields of interest more relevant to first-year students, and to illustrate how the work of engineers and computer scientists directly impact society.

Remote Sensing of Volcanic Ash Cloud During Explosive Eruptions Using Ground-Based Weather Radar Data Processing

The ash ejected into the atmosphere by the Eyjafjalla Icelandic volcano during its recent eruption posed such a threat to flights over much of Europe that the ensuing cancellations resulted in an unprecedented disruption of the European commercial air transportation system. Volcanic ash is not only a significant hazard to aircraft operations but also to public safety from volcanic ash fall at the surface.

SPS Malaysia Chapter Organizes ICSIPA’2011

The International Conference on Signal and Image Processing Applications (ICSIPA 2011), organized by SPS Malaysia Chapter, is the second in the series and will be held in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.  The conference aims to bring together engineers and scientists in signal, image and video processing locally and internationally for a better cohesion and collaboration in the fields of mutual interest.
