Intern candidate will gain real world experience while working for the world's largest medical device manufacturer. The candidate will be involved in research and development of algorithms for medical devices related to continuous glucose monitors. The individual will be responsible for investigating novel state-of-the-art signal processing techniques for performance optimization of next generation glucose sensing technology. This includes, for example, investigation of the ability of Kalman filters for parameter estimation of both physiological and non-physiological models.

Haptics researchers investigate ways of using tactile sensation and control to help people interact more intuitively with computers, robots, and various other types of electronic and electromechanical systems. Through the use of specially designed input/output devices, such as haptic joysticks, gloves, and surfaces, users receive feedback in the form of sensations that are felt in a finger, hand, or other part of the body.

The last few years have seen the start of a unique change in microphones for consumer devices such as smartphones or tablets. Almost all analogue capacitive microphones are being replaced by digital silicon microphones or MEMS microphones. MEMS microphones perform differently to conventional analogue microphones.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) is pleased to sponsor travel grants to student and non-student authors from developing countries. The grants will be awarded on a highly competitive basis to a limited number of applicants who have a genuine need for financial support to attend ICASSP 2014. SPS membership is required and the paper quality will be taken into consideration.
The grants may only be used to cover the travel expenses to attend ICASSP 2014. The grants, if approved, will be distributed via a reimbursement during or shortly after the conference.
