Welcome to the Spring 2022 Edition of the Speech and Language Processing Technical Committee (SLTC) Newsletter.
We have collected several updates for this edition from the challenges, conference support, workshops, and external relations sub-committees.
==Challenges==
by Jun Du
ICASSP 2022 Signal Processing Grand Challenge Sessions are successfully run virtually (https://2022.ieeeicassp.org/technical_program.php?T=V). Among them, three challenges (DNS, M2MeT and MISP) are related to SLTC.
As a service to the SPS community, Challenge and Data Collections (CDC) committee aims to support the challenge organization, challenge overview paper publication, advertising the public dataset resources and dataset paper (https://signalprocessingsociety.org/publications-resources/challenges-an...).

We are putting together educational materials, in an effort to create a roadmap for anyone who is interested in learning a variety of topics in speech and language technology. While there are many different learning resources available online, it can be overwhelming and confusing for someone who is not familiar with this field.
What we aim to do is to organize the existing materials, find the gaps and create new materials, and make it available to the public. It is especially important to keep a global perspective and make these materials inclusive (e.g., including different languages).
Please feel free to add any types of educational materials (including tutorials, short courses, webinars, blogs, videos, slides, etc.) to the temporary repository that we have created:

Proposal submission deadline is 10 June 2022 for the 2023 IEEE Workshop on Automatic Speech Recognition and Understanding (ASRU).
This newsletter is an ideal forum for updates, reports, announcements and editorials which don't fit well with traditional journals. We welcome your contributions, as well as calls for papers, job announcements, comments and suggestions. You can submit job postings here, and contact the TC via this form, or send an email to speechnewseds@listserv.ieee.org to propose articles. To subscribe to the Newsletter, send an email with the command "subscribe speechnewsdist" in the message body to listserv@listserv.ieee.org.
If you want to stay connected to the IEEE SLTC between newsletters, we are on Twitter @IEEE_SLTC.
From all of us: Stay safe and do good.
