Webinar Details: 15 March 2018 from 9:00am - 10:00am (EDT)
Attendee Registration Link: Register for Webinar, by Dr. Sergios Theodoridis and Dr. Sotirios Chatzis
Topic: A Tour into Deep Learning: From Its Origins to Cutting Edge Research and Open Challenges

The IEEE Signal Processing Society is very excited to offer the next webinar in our new series featuring “technical and technological innovations and their applications in signal processing” from top researchers and thought leaders in academia and industry.

Webinar Details: 21 March 2018 from 11:00am - 12:00pm (EDT)
Attendee Registration Link: Register for Webinar, by Dr. Xiao-Ping (Steven) Zhang
Topic: Fundamentals on Signal Processing for Finance and Economics

The IEEE Signal Processing Society is very excited to offer the next webinar in our new series featuring “technical and technological innovations and their applications in signal processing” from top researchers and thought leaders in academia and industry.

In this course, you will learn the science behind how digital images and video are made, altered, stored, and used. We will look at the vast world of digital imaging, from how computers and digital cameras form images to how digital special effects are used in Hollywood movies to how the Mars Rover was able to send photographs across millions of miles of space.

Webinar Details: Wednesday, 13 December 2017 from 2:30pm - 3:30pm (New York time)
Attendee Registration Link: Register for Webinar, by Dr. Nikos Sidiropoulos

CAMSAP 2017 Plenary - Tensors and Probability: An Intriguing Union: Abstract: We reveal an interesting link between tensors and multivariate statistics. The rank of a multivariate probability tensor can be interpreted as a nonlinear measure of statistical dependence of the associated random variables.

In this issue, we would like to pont to two online courses available via www.edx.org:

1) Sparse Representations in Signal and Image Processing: Fundamentals (https://www.edx.org/course/sparse-representations-signal-image-israelx-236862-1x)

Webinar Details: November 28, 2017 from 11 pm to 12 am (EST) or November 29, 2017 from 11 am to 12 pm (JST)

Stay tuned for announcements on “Digital Signaling: Interacting Social Sensors and Social Networks” presented by Prof. Vikram Krishnamurthy. In this webinar, Prof. Krishnamurthy will discuss how humans interact over a social network and make decisions based on sensor information.

In this course, you will learn the science behind how digital images and video are made, altered, stored, and used. The course is offered via an open platform: https://www.coursera.org/learn/image-processing

Satellite-based navigation and location technology has become a valuable tool for many positioning, navigation, and timing services. These include both civilian and military applications. Several Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) are currently fully or partially functional, with the US Global Positioning System (GPS) topping the list and having a constellation of at least 24 satellites operating simultaneously. GLONASS, the Russian system, currently has a global coverage, too.
