Joint Webinar with SPS, AES, CTSoc: 15 September 2022 - Three Engineering Societies' Perspectives on Multi-Channel Audio and Psychoacoustics
The Audio Engineering Society (AES), the IEEE Consumer Technology Society (CTSoc), and the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) cordially invite you to a first-of-a-kind joint event discussing the state of the art perspectives in this rapidly evolving field.
SPS BISP TC Webinar: 5 July 2022, by Dr. Michael Unser
The intent of this webinar is to demonstrate the optimality of splines for the resolution of inverse problems in imaging and the design of deep neural networks. To that end, I first present a representer theorem that states that the extremal points of a broad class of linear inverse problems with a generalized total-variation constraint are adaptive splines whose type is linked to the underlying regularization operator.
IEEE SPS & IEEE HAC Projects Call for Proposals on Signal Processing Technologies for Local Community Challenges
The IEEE Signal Processing Society is excited to announce we are partnering with the IEEE Humanitarian Activities Committee (HAC) to conduct a special Call for Proposals to support projects in SPS chapters that utilize Signal Processing technologies to address local community challenges.
SPS Pioneers in IEEE History: Member Highlight: Prof. Rabab Ward
Prof. Rabab Ward's career includes many firsts, particularly for women in engineering and signal processing, paving the way in three continents and spanning over four decades. This did not come easy as we discovered. After many years of perseverance, Ward became the first woman with a Ph.D. to be appointed as professor of electrical engineering in Canada in 1981.
New Society Editor-in-Chief Named for 2023
Christ Richmond (Duke University) has been named Editor-in-Chief for the IEEE Signal Processing Letters for the term 1 January 2023 through 31 December 2025.
Upcoming SPS BISP TC Webinar: 7 June 2022, by Dr. Baiying Lei
Neuro-imaging is safe and non-invasive, which is widely used in the early diagnosis and prediction of Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Autism and other brain diseases. With the rapid development of intelligent computing technology, it is possible to use neuro-imaging data for intelligent diagnosis of brain diseases.
SPS Webinar: 20 June 2022, presented by Dr. Zhijin Qin
In past decades, conventional communication primarily focused on how to accurately and effectively transmit symbols, which is categorized as the first level of communications by Shannon and Weaver. With the developments of cellular communication systems, the achieved transmission rate is gradually approaching to the Shannon limit.
IEEE SPS SAM TC Webinar: 24 June 2022, by Yanning Shen
The Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is considered to be a quintessential data preprocessing tool in many machine learning applications. But the high dimensionality and massive scale of data in several of these applications means the traditional centralized PCA solutions are fast becoming irrelevant for them.
Get Involved with Technical Committees by becoming a TC Affiliate
The Signal Processing Society (SPS) has 12 Technical Committees that support a broad selection of signal processing-related activities defined by the scope of the Society.
Call for Papers: Signal Processing Magazine Special Issue - 75th Anniversary of Signal Processing Society
For our 50th anniversary in 1998, the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) worked with the IEEE History Center to prepare a monograph outlining the history of the Society. In 2023, we will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the IEEE Signal Processing Society!
