The 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO) was held 2–6 September 2019 at the A Coruña Conference Center, Palexco. “Balcony of the Atlantic,” “Crystal City,” and “Herculine City” are some of the nicknames for A Coruña, Spain, whose motto is “A Coruña, a cidade onde ninguén é forasteiro,” which translates into “A Coruña, the city where nobody is an outsider.” EUSIPCO is the flagship conference of the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) and is presented annually.
EUSIPCO 2019 in A Coruña was the third EUSIPCO that convened in Spain, after being held twice in Barcelona in 1990 and 2011. The city is in the northwestern part of the Iberian Peninsula, and with its quarter of a million people, it is the largest metropolitan area of Galicia. A Coruña is a port city with more than 2,000 years of history that was part of the Roman Empire. Its most emblematic building, the Tower of Hercules, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, was chosen to represent EUSIPCO 2019 through its logo (Figure 1).
