"Discrete Fourier and Wavelet Transforms: An Introduction through Linear Algebra with Applications to Signal Processing" is a new undergraduate textbook authored by Roe W Goodman from Rutgers University.

Researchers from the Future Interfaces Group, an interdisciplinary research lab at Carnegie Mellon University, have developed a wearable interface that turns the skin on your arm into a touchscreen for your smartwatch.

The idea of representing a signal as a vector living in some linear vector space has borne tremendous fruit in signal processing: this viewpoint provides an encompassing framework for classical least-squares and subspace-based signal processing, and a language with which to model a signal’s structural properties.

Bringing "The Science Behind our Digital Life" to the Forefront

  Signal processing is growing, evolving and found in almost every modern gadget, yet remains invisible to most people.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society Chapter of the Year Award will be presented for the sixth time in 2017. The award will be presented annually to a Chapter that has provided their membership with the highest quality of programs, activities and services. The award will be presented annually in conjunction with the International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP) to the Chapter’s representative. The award will consist of a certificate and a check in the amount of $1,000 to support local chapter activities.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) invites nominations for the position of Awards Board Chair. The term for the Awards Board Chair position will be three years (1 January 2017-31 December 2019). The Awards Board Chair is a non-voting member of the Society’s Board of Governors, chairs the Society’s Awards Board and acts as a liaison to the Board of Governors for all award, fellow and distinguished lecturer activities.
