The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the following journal: IEEE Signal Processing Letters (SPL) for a 3-year term starting 1 January 2017. Nominations should be submitted to Thrasos Pappas, SPS Vice President-Publications, via pappas@eecs.northwestern.edu by 16 March 2016.

In 2016, ICIP will for the first time feature a Visual Innovation Award. This Award was created to recognize pioneers of transformative technologies and business models in areas within the technical scope of IEEE ICIP. The Award showcases innovations that have had great impact on human experiences with technology or are anticipated to do so in the near future.

This special issue on "Big Data: Theoretical Aspects", published in Proceedings of the IEEE Jan. 2016, highlights a number of algorithmic approaches that are fundamental to data analysis, both in formulating and solving problems.
